BIRTH & EARLY CHILDHOOD

Igbal Abilov was born on December 12, 1989, in Bala Kolatan, Masally District, Azerbaijan SSR. He attended Bala Kolatan Secondary School for the first grade.

LIFE IN EMIGRATION & EDUCATION

At the age of 7, Igbal moved with his parents to Minsk, Belarus. In 1997 Igbal attended school No. 179 in Minsk for the second grade. From 3rd to 9th grade (1998 through 2005), he studied at the gymnasium "Alternative". Two final years of his secondary education were spent at the gymnasium No. 16, from which he graduated in 2007.

The same year Igbal entered the Faculty of International Relations at Belarusian State University (BSU). He completed his bachelor studies in 2012 and was awarded his master's degree in the same field in 2013.

Igbal pursued doctoral studies at the same faculty 2014 to 2017. His dissertation topic was "Relations of Turkey with the States of the South Caucasus (2001-2015)," which he has yet to defend.

TEACHING & SCHOLARLY EXPERIENCE

From 2019 to 2022, he served as a senior teacher at the Faculty of International Relations at BSU, delivering lectures and seminars on:

  • Regional Subsystems of the Near and Middle East
  • Foreign Policy of China and Japan
  • Conflict Resolution and Negotiation Theory
  • Methodology for Analyzing International Processes
  • Environmental Security Problems in the Contemporary World

From 2020 to 2022, Igbal also worked at the University of Law and Social-Information Technologies (BIP) as a senior lecturer at the Department of Political Science and International Political Processes. He delivered lectures and seminars on:

  • Regional Subsystems of International Relations (Near and Middle East; Asia-Pacific Region)
  • Conflict Resolution and Negotiation Theory
  • Geopolitical Problems of the Contemporary World
  • Ethnopolitics
  • Fundamentals of Diplomacy

Apart from lectures and seminars, he supervised students' theses and published his research articles and analytical notes in various magazines, organized and participated in research expeditions in the region.
